Walter "Wally" Salamon Sr.

Walter J. "Wally" Salamon, 103, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025 at Cook Willow. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Elizabeth M. "Betty" (Kelly) Salamon, who predeceased him in 2016. Together they shared 66 loving years of marriage.
Wally was born on November 7, 1922 in New Britain, son to the late Anthony and Agnes (Gostyla) Salamon. He grew up in New Britain and attended local schools. Wally began working for Fafnir Bearing after graduation. He proudly entered the United States Army serving in Europe during WWII and was honorably discharged, earning rank as Staff Sergeant. Upon his honorable discharge, Wally returned to Fafnir Bearing and became a supervisor in the inspection department retiring at the age of 65. Wally was active in the Fafnir Leagues, both golf and bowling. He was a longtime resident of Plainville and a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church.
Wally is survived by his daughter, Wendy Caruso and her husband, James, of Plainville; his son, Walter Salamon, Jr. and his companion, Patricia Ferrier, of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Kimberly Jones, Pamela Caruso, David Caruso, and Nicole Caruso; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by all of his siblings.
