As an orthopedic surgeon and a colleague, I worked with Gene throughout his career at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was resourceful, always very helpful, encouraging me to stay in shape and "don't get hurt". Great anesthesiologist, physician, friend. Always a pleasure with whom to work. Gone way too soon........ We'll miss you, Gene.

Gene and I were anesthesia residents at UNC together. Our class was particularly close as there were only 4 of us. He was always a most down to earth and genuinely good- hearted person. He helped me through many difficult situations by just being his steadfast self. I've no doubt he wil be missed greatly by all that knew him. I'm sorry for the loss to his family and his community. Rest In Peace Gene

I will miss such a sweet and loving person.
I was always bringing something I cooked or baked, I believed he favored my peanut butter rice crispy treats.
That was our little funny time at the Anesthesia desk.

I only met Gene and Molly one time but he was a dear friend to my sweetheart, Charles. Gene and Molly were the FIRST ones to come by the house when Charles was diagnosed with cancer. Charles was uplifted and comforted by Gene's words and companionship during such a difficult time in Charles' life.

But even before I met Gene, Charles would often talk about his dear friend. Everyone needs a genuine friend in their life, and I am thankful for Gene being a ray of sunshine to Charles throughout the many years of their friendship.
.
My heart, hugs, love and condolences are with each of you.

I'm heartily sorry for the loss of your beloved Gene. While working as a nurse in Chapel Hill, Gene and I became friends. Often we, Gene, Dee and I would meet weekly for dinner on Franklin St, 411 was our place. Gene was the epitome of a gentleman and such a great friend. I cherish our time together. May He Rest In Peace.
