Eugene "Gene" Turner Obituary
Eugene "Gene" Turner, of Sayler Park, formerly of West Harrison, passed away on June 3, 2024 at the age of 77. Gene was the first born of Isaac and Ella (Sizemore) Turner in Hazard, KY. Gene served his country in the US Army in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969, serving 11 months and 23 days overseas. After returning from the service, he married Debra Mobley on July 12, 1969, and they were blessed with two children: Kimberly and Kenneth. Gene went to work for the Norwood GM plant, and he was the last person on the line before a car went off to the dealership. After 21 years at GM he moved on to owning his small business in Harrison. Gene was a collector of many things and couldn't pass up a flea market or a good yard sale. He also enjoyed gardening with his granddaughters: Kendra and Libby. Their favorite memory was getting pulled around the yard in the red wagon while helping him garden. He also taught them how to play cards... and how sometimes to cheat. Gene also enjoyed fishing and would get out on the water whenever he could.
Those left to carry on Gene's legacy of love is his devoted and loving wife of almost 55 years Debra (Mobley) Turner; children: Kimberly Turner and Kenneth Turner; cherished granddaughters: Kendra Turner and Olivia "Libby" Willetts; dear brother of Donald (Linda) Turner, Wayne Turner, Rosetta (Floyd) Brown, Greg (Debbie) Turner, and Lana (BJ) Wolf; brother-in-law of Vivian Turner, Kenneth (Joyce) Mobley, and Cathy Blanton. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Isaac and Ella Turner; and brother Lonnie Turner.
Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, Harrison, on June 12, 2024, from 5 pm until the time of the funeral service at 7 pm. Mark Garrett will be officiating the service.
A celebration of Life will also be held at New Trenton Fire House on July 13, 2024 from 5 pm until 8 pm.
Memorials may be given to the family to help with funeral costs.
