Eugene Yentzer Obituary

COUDERSPORT - Eugene A. Yentzer Sr., 93, of Port Allegany passed away peacefully at home Friday (Jan. 16, 2026), surrounded by his loving family.
Born Dec. 25, 1932, in Sweden Township, Eugene was the son of the late Roscoe Riley Yentzer and Hazel Mae Tombs-Yentzer. Eugene was the devoted husband of the late Grace M. Osborn-Yentzer. They were married May 10, 1963, and shared more than 63 years of marriage before her passing March 30, 2025. Their life together was one rooted in commitment, and family.
He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from March 1950 to March 1953, a service he carried with deep pride and respect for the military throughout his life. Eugene retired from Pittsburgh Corning in Port Allegany after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He was a man who valued hard work, loyalty and providing for those he loved.
Eugene found joy in life's simple and meaningful moments. He loved feeding and watching the birds, tending to his garden flowers and shrubs, and spending time outdoors caring for his yard. Family camping trips were especially dear to him, as were long country drives, where he enjoyed taking in the scenery alongside those he loved most. He cherished every dog he had throughout his life, most recently Gizzy and Teko.
He is survived by two daughters, Dawn (Gary) Bacon of Keating Summit and Jenny Lou Yentzer in Tennessee; one son, Robert (Cheri) Yentzer of Port Allegany; two stepdaughters, Helen Ayers-George of Portville, N.Y.; and Sandra Ayers-Fox of Port Allegany; four stepsons, Donald (Vicki) Ayers of Austin; Fred (Sheila) Ayers of Coudersport; Pete (Linda) Ayers of Port Allegany; and James (Linda) Ayers of Roulette. He was blessed with several grandchildren and great- and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Grace, Eugene was preceded in death by three brothers; two sisters; one son, Eugene II (Huey); one grandson, Eugene A. Yentzer III; and a stepdaughter, Linda Ayers Crumrine.
At Eugene's request, a small celebration of life with only family and close friends will be held at a date to be announced. Eugene will also be afforded military honors at that time. At a future date, a private family burial service will be held at Sweden Hill Cemetery for Eugene and his wife, Grace, where they will be laid to rest together.
In Eugene's memory, memorial contributions may be made to Teacher's Pet Rescue, 19 Blackberry Lane, Coudersport, PA 16915.
