Eugene "Geno-Cimoli" Young was born April 23rd 1939 to the union of Eddie and Lillie B. Sims-Young Jr in Kansas City, Kansas. He was raised by his grandparents Eddie and Mattie Young, Sr. And Being the first grandchild he was spoiled.
Eugene was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas School District graduating from Sumner High School class of 1957 where he ran track for 2 years.
Eugene moved to Kansas City, MO after graduation.
Eugene was employed by Thriftway Store then Brown's floral delivery. He then found employment with foremost Dairy where he worked 10 years before suffering a stroke and being forced into retirement at an early age of 37. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mason Memorial church. In 2001, he was re-baptized with the Church of Latter-day saints.
At the time of his passing Eugene did not have a church home but he knew he had an internal home, a mansion prepared for him in heaven.
Eugene met and married Sandra Brown in 1958. They had two daughters born to this union, Terri S. Young and Tonya V. Young. This marriage was dissolved. And he later married Windsor King. One son, Eugene Young, Jr was born to that union. This marriage was also dissolved.
Eugene, then married Muriel Strothers and one daughter, Tina M. Young was born to that union. And this marriage also ended. Eugene and Mary Dillard had known each other for years. They began dating and united in holy matrimony on December 6th 1986. They were married for over 35 years until her death on March 10th 2022. Beginning that union Mary had six children prior and together they had a blended family.
Eugene really liked boxing, to which he had a library of tapes. He loved baseball, the Royals being his favorite team. In his younger days he loved fast cars, going to the drag strip to race his 1961 black Ford four-speed 427, which he called "The Stomping Stallion". He loved being around his family and friends talking over old times.
Eugene will be missed by his family and friends. Proceeding Eugene in death are his parents and grandparents; wife Mary A. Young; daughter Tonya V. Young-Candler and stepdaughter Tracy Murray. Leaving to mourn his passing are his children Terri S. Young; Tina M. Young and Eugene Young, Jr. His sisters, Loretta Reese and Yvonne Hollingsworth; brother David Young. Aunt Helen Gee. Step-children Debra Lee (William), Angela Dawson, Carmen Carpenter (Glenn, Sr); Kimberly Whitaker (Orlando,Sr) and Samuel Dillard III. As well as, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; five nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends
Funeral Service will be held on Sat, Nov 12, 2022, 11am at the Linwood Chapel. Visitation 10am. Interment: Mount Moriah Cemetery. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
