She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Shaver; brother, Tom Shaver; and sister, Vanna Spain.
Genia is survived by husband of 35 years, George "Buddy" Chatfield; children, Bob Sorey, Chris (Jennifer) Sorey, Jason (Amanda) Sorey, Brad (Kimberly) Chatfield, Jeromy Chatfield, Heather (Danny) Hilliard, and Jared (Kori) Chatfield; grandchildren, Kalee (Jake) Dillard, Gabriel Sorey, Adam Sorey, Lauren Sorey, Madison & Kamryn, Jackson & Colton, Abby and Amanda, and Will & Carly; great- grandchildren, Ronan, Adalynn, and Larrah; brother-in-law, Dale (Debbie) Spain; and special friends, Glenna and Jimmy Paty.
Genia was a member of Berea Church of Christ and a former member of College Hills Church of Christ. She was an executive assistant with Heartland.
She truly lived a life worth celebrating. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved with all her heart. She was a loyal friend, always ready to share a smile, a kind word, or a listening ear. Her dogs, Daisy and Winston held a special place in her life, bringing her comfort and companionship every single day.
She also found joy in the little routines that made her feel special-like her weekly visits to Hermitage to get her hair done by Tad. Her life was full of love, laughter, and the simple, beautiful things that made each day meaningful. We celebrate her not only for who she was, but for the way she made everyone around her feel loved and cherished.
A Celebration of Life Gathering of family and friends will be held at Partlow Funeral Chapel on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

I will always remember Genia's kindness. She reached out to our family time and time again, taking care of my mom and dad when they couldn't. Inviting us for holiday meals and much more. She will be missed.
