Eula Jean Collins Smith, 80, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at home with her loving husband by her side. She had been in declining health.
Eula was born Wednesday, September 12,1945, in Dailey, a daughter of the late Arch Ray Collins and Opal Melba Lambert Collins. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. On December 30, 1964, in Oakland, Maryland, she married John Calvin Smith who survives at home.
Also left to cherish her memory are two children, John Calvin Smith, Jr. and wife Kathy of Elkins, and Terri Jean Smith and companion Rich Boyce of Nestorville, granddaughters, Natasha Louise Smith-Everson and husband Michael of Elkins; Katie and Gracie Rowe, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were four siblings, Roger Lee Collins, Harry Lee Lambert, Sr., Esther Mae Collins Shannon, and Eloise Collins Miller.
Eula was a 1963 graduate of Tygarts Valley High School. She had been employed Reidbord Brothers, Elkins Recreation Center and Elkins Walmart. She loved fishing, going out on the boat, metal detecting, and crafting. Above all Eula loved being Nanny to her beautiful granddaughters, Natasha, Katie and Gracie. Eula was considered "Mom" to everyone she met and always had her home open for family and visitors. Eula was a Southern Baptist by faith.
Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 10am until Noon, the funeral hour. Pastor Ralph Andrus will officiate, and interment will follow at the Bell Cemetery on Kelly Mountain Road, Elkins.
