Mrs. Eula Catherine Holmes

Mrs. Eula Catherine McCrary Holmes was born on October 26, 1936, to Mildred Dora Rebecca Williams and Richard McCrary in Zebulon, Georgia. Eula received her formal education at Fairmont High School in Griffin, Georgia.
Mrs. Eula Catherine McCrary Holmes accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was united with Liberty Springs Baptist Church, where she was a member of Liberty Springs Choir, she was on the Mother Board, and she was also a member of the Zoinaires Gospel Group along with, Annie Pearl Willis, Shirley Johnson, Gene Askin, and Debra Williams.
Ms. Eula McCrary met the love of her life Mr. Walter Holmes and was united in holy matrimony, that marriage lasted 60 years. Their union was blessed with two children.
Eula was employed by Highland Mills and Dundee Mills as a Doffer for many years. In her leisure time she enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, going to Church, and spending time with her family and friends.
On Thursday, January 18, 2024, Mrs. Eula Catherine McCrary Holmes, was granted her wings and rejoined her heavenly family. Her departure reminds us that angels are watching over us at all times. She is preceded by her husband Walter Holmes, Sr.; her parents, Mildred Dora R. Williams, and Richard McCrary; brother, JC Thomas, and sister, Georgia Ruth Thomas Hann.
Those left to cherish Mrs. Eula Catherine McCrary Holmes are her children, Walter Homes, Jr., and Wilma D. Holmes; nieces, Melodie D. Hann, and Stacey R. Thomas; nephews, Lamar Thomas, Alan (Shandra) Thomas, Antonio (Crystal) Thomas, and Johnny Hann, Jr.; special great-nephew, Brandon Hann; brother-in-law, Johnnie Hann, Sr.; special friends, Willie Ponder, Sr., Ethel Ponder, and Vivian Marie Hollard; Liberty Springs Mother Board, Eliza Shillow, Salister Williams, Dorothy Williams, Sandra Daniels, and Shirley Colquitt. She also leaves a host relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
Visitation for Mrs. Holmes will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Burden's Funeral Home. A Home Going Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Burden's Funeral Home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service hour.
