Lilesville - On Saturday, January 24, 2026, Mrs. Eula Mae Oxendine Brayboy, 93, passed away peacefully at her home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday February 4, 2026, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Mr. Ken Caulder officiating. Interment will follow in Seago Cemetery.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Eula was born September 15, 1932, in Robeson County, NC, and was a daughter of the late Marvin "Son" Oxendine and the late Amy Oxendine.
She was a homemaker, making sure her husband and children were well cared for. She was a seamstress and well-known for making quilts and blankets. She and her husband had sale booths at flea markets in Rockingham and Mt. Croghan, where she often sold the quilts and blankets she made. She also gardened and helped her husband farm.
She collected dolls and horses.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her chidren, Helen Sheppard of Lilesville, John "Slick" Brayboy of Hamlet, Lindergh Brayboy of Polkton, and Dan Brayboy of Ellerbe; her grandchildren, Melody Patrick, Brandy Hough, Jason Hough, Joseph Brayboy, Sheila Brayboy, Michael Brayboy, Randy Brayboy, Allen Brayboy Jamie Brayboy, Josh Brayboy, Priscilla Brayboy and Crystal Smith and a number of great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Gurney Brayboy; her children, infant Priscilla Brayboy, Rex Brayboy, and Sam Brayboy; and her sisters and brothers, Phellia Knight, Vivian Treadaway, Neil Oxendine, Clifton Oxendine, Clayton Oxendine, Billy Oxendine, and Rudolf Oxendine.
The family is most grateful to the staff of Richmond County Hospice for assisting the family in granting her wish to be at home at the time of her passing.
