Eula Jean “JoAnn” Sheley was born on April 12, 1942, to the union of John Cheffen, Sr., and Lizzie Cheffen in Lewisville, Arkansas. She departed this life, Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at home peacefully. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Calvin & Charles Cheffen, one grandchild, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eula moved to Kansas City with her parents in 1955. She worked for the Kansas City, MO School District for 31 years and retired in 2006.

Eula accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and made sure all seven of her children knew the Lord and was in church faithfully, even if she didn’t go on Sunday or during the week. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and being outside with her kids, family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Thomas, her husband of 39 years, two sons, James and Linzy Cheffen, five daughters, Diane (Victor) Thomas, Roxanne Bly, Arshell Boykin, Terri (Anthony) Morehead of Kansas City, MO & Patricia Jack of Cedar Hill, TX, two brothers, John, Jr. (Yvonne) Cheffen, Robert (Ida) Cheffen, Two sisters, Burnette (Raymond) Sheley, Vernell Cheffen, all of Kansas City, MO., 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
