Eunice Ione (Griggs) Clarey age 87 of Frazee, MN passed peacefully January 3, 2024, at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN, with husband Jim by her side.
Eunice was born in Breckenridge, MN to Louis and Myrtle (Johnson) Griggs of Fairmount, ND. She graduated from Fairmount High School and married her High School sweetheart, James N. Clarey and together had five children: James, Christopher, Robert, Marliese and Pat.
Eunice worked for Bell Telephone in Wahpeton, ND before being married. The next twenty-two years were spent being a homemaker and raising five kids overseas with her husband, who was serving in the military. After retiring they moved to Frazee. Eunice worked for Norby’s Department Store in Detroit Lakes, and later worked for the Anderson Bus Company in Frazee for more than twenty years.
Eunice enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, her Red Hat Ladies adventures, her word find, and being the Queen of Kings in the Corner. Her cheerful personality and giggle laughs made everyone who met her a friend for life.
Eunice is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Jim; one daughter, Marliese (Don) Severson, of Owatonna, MN; four sons, James L. Clarey, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Christopher (Thea) Clarey, of Buchannan, TN; Bob (Lisa) Clarey, of Frazee, MN; and Patrick (Christie) Clarey, of Moorhead, MN; eighteen grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, in laws, and friends.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Beverly; two brothers, Merril and Warren; daughter in law, Jane; and three grandchildren, Michelle, Michael, and Danial.
Visitation: Thursday, January 11 from 5-7:00pm at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee with a prayer service at 6:30pm.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00AM, Friday, January 12 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee.
