Eunice Lovie Jacobson, of Dallas, Texas, departed this phase of her life on June 2, 2025. Born in Harlingen, Texas on December 27, 1934, she was raised in Dallas and graduated from Sunset High School in 1952. Eunice Lovie did not pursue further formal education but became well known to her extended family and friends for her fine singing voice, with which she lifted many spirits on many occasions. A number of those who knew her well, and whose own musical talents were considerable, thought that such God-given talent as Eunice Lovie's has rarely been exhibited with such lack of self-consciousness, and with such evident love for those with and for whom she sang.
Eunice Lovie is survived by her brother Jack D. Jacobson of Los Alamos, New Mexico, her sister-in-law Jan Jacobson of Phoenix, Arizona, and a host of nieces and nephews now spanning three generations. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Jack Peter and Eunice Jacobson, of Dallas, her brother Peter Earl Jacobson of Phoenix, and her sister Nancy Jane Jacobson, also of Dallas. She will be remembered for her self-deprecating sense of humor, for the favorite pastries and desserts she produced in prodigious quantities, especially at Thanksgiving visits to the little house on Cockrell Hill Road, and for her solicitous care for her mother and sister in their extended illnesses, when her own health was far from perfect. It seems that Eunice Lovie would agree that a fitting closing for this occasion would be these words from the old hymn:
"With harps and with viols there stands a great thing, In the presence of Jesus, and sings this new song: Unto Him who hath loved us and washed us from sin, Unto Him be the GLORY forever, Amen.
