Eunice Marie Milich, 98, of Elgin, Ill., passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at home, surrounded by family.
Born April 18, 1927, in Belvidere, the daughter of Alrick G. and Roberta L. (Bates) Ekman, Eunice was a graduate of Belvidere High School before going to work at Elgin Watch Factory, and then worked at Kinney Electric Manufacturing Co., Inc., during her 40 years working.
Eunice enjoyed sewing and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very independent and strong, and found joy and meaning in the life she lived. She enjoyed country music, blue grass music, and especially polka, which she loved to dance to.
Eunice is survived by her children, Linda (Timothy) Neely of Woodstock, Richard Douglas of Elgin, Cynthia (Eduardo) Medina of Hampshire, and Donna (Charles) Peters of Elgin; grandchildren, Samantha (Larell) Granger of Elgin, Charles (Felicia) Peters Jr. and Sabrina (Will) Ollie, both of Springfield; and great-grandchildren, Samara, Saniya, Lazrell, and Larius, Granger, all of Elgin, and Raphael, Ollie, and Ariya Peters, all of Springfield.
She was predeceased by her parents; sister, June Ekman; several first cousins; and great-grandbabies, Eli, Elijah, and Amaya Peters.
Memorials can be made to the family for a fund to be established.
Funeral service will be at 11 am Friday, Oct. 3, at Cooper Quiram Chapel, 202 E. Main St.,
Genoa, IL 60135. Visitation will be from 9 am to 11 am Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Genoa Township Cemetery, Genoa.
The family thanks her caregiver, Tangela Young; her long-term doctors, Dr. L. DeMarco, Dr. A. Nisar, and Dr. H. Sheth; and the staff at Residential Home & Health Hospice for their compassionate care of Eunice.
