Eunice Faye (Leonard) Rockwood of Centerville, MA passed away peacefully in her home the morning of October 5th, 2021. She was eighty-two.
Eunice was born on May 9th, 1939, in Auburn, Maine, to David and Ella Leonard of Auburn, ME. Eunice took great pride in being the 10th child out of 11! She graduated from E.C. Little High School, where she played the drums in the marching band. She then attended Bates College and the University of Maryland. She proceeded to work in Washington DC. Area where she lived with several of her sisters. She married in 1960 and became a military wife and mother.
Eunice and her beloved husband Leo (Rocky) Rockwood were married for 61 years.
They traveled abroad and to numerous locations in the states. They were stationed lastly at Otis AFB. While at Otis, Eunice started her career with her relentless work ethic as an accountant for the United States Air Force NAFA and then became the accounting supervisor for the U.S. Coast Guard. NAFA. In their retirement Eunice and Rocky would travel to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Greensboro, North Carolina.
Eunice was an avid reader and never went anywhere without her Kindle. One would never guess she was an enthusiastic football fan. She loved the New England Patriots; her backup team was the Washington Football Team. Her college team was Union College in Schenectady, NY. She inherited her dad's love of the Red Sox and was often the last person still up watching those late-night games.
Above all of this, Eunice loved her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. She would have moved a mountain for her kids provided theyr'e weren't any bugs! She is preceded in death by her son Everett Rockwood and grandson Daniel Rockwood. She is survived by her loving husband Leo (Rocky) Rockwood, her daughter Cheryl Rockwood (Barry Maday), Her son Paul Rockwood. Grand children Nikki Truex (Richard), Nate Rockwood and Cam Rockwood. Step granddaughter Kelly Maday (Greg Jones). Great grandchildren Connor Powers, Alex Quinones and Madison Truex. Sister Sally (Leonard) Imler, and a very large number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on October 13th at 12:30 PM in Chapman Funeral & Cremations, John-Lawrence Chapel, 3778 Falmouth RD (Route 28) Marstons Mills, MA 02648, burial will follow at 2:15 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Buzzards Bay, MA 02542
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
