EVA R. LABIER, 96 of Alder Court Jaffrey died Friday May 4, 2007 at Harborside Healthcare Pheasantwood in Peterborough following a period of failing health.
She was born in Biddeford, Maine November 28, 1910, daughter of the late Joseph and Olivine (Benoit) Thibault. She was the youngest of eight children and had moved to Peterborough at the age of five. She continued to reside there for fifty years until moving to Jaffrey in 1967
She had attended Peterborough schools and had worked in the Lunch Room Program at the former Peterborough High School. Mrs. LaBier also worked at the former Verney Mills, Millipore in Jaffrey and retired from Brookstone in Peterborough. Following retirement she continued to work part time at Mr. Mike's in Jaffrey
Mrs. LaBier was best known for her love of bowling. She bowled at the Bowling Acres in Peterborough from the day they opened in 1962 until she was 88 years old. She had earned the title of All-time Bowling Queen of Bowling Acres. A title, which allowed her to bowl free for as long as she continued to bowl.
She was a member of the John Humiston Post #11 American Legion Auxiliary as well as a member of the Auxiliary of Jaffrey Memorial Post #5613 VFW.
She enjoyed playing card games, especially cribbage, but most cherished was time spent with children and grandchildren.
She was married to Homer J. LaBier. He died in October of 1967.
Survivors include her daughter Ann L. Jones of New London; a son Ronald LaBier of Peterborough; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by two step-sons Orin LaBier and Norman LaBier.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00AM in the chapel of the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 south) Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps, pastor of St. Patrick Church in Jaffrey will officiate. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund at Harborside Healthcare Pheasant Wood, Pheasant Road, Peterborough NH 03458.
