Eva Steele

Ms. Eva "Easta Mae" Woodson Steele passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. She was a truly remarkable woman whose heart was bigger than most could ever imagine. Ms. Eva loved her family and friends deeply and showed that love freely and generously every day. If someone was in need, she was often the first to step forward with open arms, offering comfort, support, and kindness without hesitation.

She was preceded in death by her loving father, Ralph Woodson; her bonus mother, Virginia Woodson; and her mother, Queen Este Wright.

Ms. Eva's beautiful legacy lives on through her children, Richard Woodson and Osha Fordom (Alfanzia); her grandchildren, Raychard Woodson, Tyzia Woodson, and Jarmairius Seigler; and her great-granddaughter, BriElla Siegler. She is also lovingly remembered by her aunts, Sarah Henderson and Vicki Henderson; her siblings, Patricia Hardison Nation, Alphonso "Bally" Warren Woodson (Dorothy), Hattie Woodson Williams, Cecil "Mansun" Woodson (Carol), Henry "Bud" Woodson, Sherlyn Woodson, Ralph Woodson Jr., Isaac Woodson, Sindy Henderson, Christopher Oliver, Selena Woodson, Shanika Woodson, Ralisa Woodson, and Cedric Woodson; her goddaughter, Andria Ferguson; her god-sister, Willie Pearl Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Ms. Eva's warmth, strength, and unwavering compassion touched the lives of so many. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, generosity, and faith that will continue to live on through everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we are grateful for the time we shared with her and for the countless memories that will forever live in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life honoring Ms. Eva will be held at the Gibson Community Center on March 21 at 8:00 p.m., where family and friends will gather to celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
