Evalena Brown Obituary
Born July 2, 1936, in Oneonta, she was the daughter of Vernon and Gertrude (Smith) Scott. She was a graduate of Schenevus Central School.
For several years Evalena worked as a secretary for Catholic Charites in Cobleskill. She was a member of The Hot Pots and a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 5088 of Cobleskill. Evalena enjoyed playing Bingo and family gatherings.
She married Joseph Brown on Aug. 18, 1956, and he predeceased her on May 31, 2009.
Surviving her are two sons: Keith Brown of Schenevus and Steven Brown of Cobleskill; daughter-in-law, Deborah Pierce of Cobleskill; nine grandchildren: Leanne Rubas of Holland Patent, NY, Stacey (Ethan) Mueller of Canajoharie, Shaun (Megan) Brown of Winston-Salem, NC, Michelle Brown (George) of Cobleskill, Christopher (Alyssa) Brown of Frankfort, Corey Brown of Cobleskill, Cassandra (Cody) Chambers of Riverview, FL, Lindsey Brown of Middleburgh and Braydon Brown of Middleburgh and fourteen great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held in the spring at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 489 W. Main St., Cobleskill, NY 12043 or catholiccharitiesusa.org
Arrangements are entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
