Evalena Marie Childs Wagstaff, 87, passed peacefully on October 23,2025 in Lehi, Utah. She was born on April 22, 1938 to Venola Hansen Childs and Luther Dee Childs in Elmo, Emery County, Utah. She was the fourth child in the family when they moved to Lehi; she spent most of her life there and graduated from Lehi High School in 1955. Her father passed away when Marie was only 4 years old. We are so happy that she has the opportunity to get to know her dad now.

After she graduated from high school, she went to work at Braun Knecht Heimann in Salt Lake. She met Mack Don Wagstaff when they were riding to Salt Lake in a carpool. Mack and Marie were married on November 14, 1958, and made their first home in American Fork, Utah. They had their first child shortly before moving to the farm down by Grandma and Grandpa Wagstaff. Down on the farm they were blessed with three more children. Marie was the best mom ever and loved all the experiences of farm life and supporting Mack and their children in rodeo.

In 1974, Mack and Marie moved to a new home in Lehi, Utah. She worked for 23 years for Alpine School District in school cafeterias and retired in 2000. She was always a hard worker. She loved to stay busy. She was dedicated to her family and her faith. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked for years at the Mount Timpanogas Temple. She loved her family, ward family, and dear friends. Her friends and neighbors were great support in her later years.

Marie lived her last year at Abbington Manor Memory Care. Marie is survived by her four children, Shelley (Scott) Shupe, Shaunna (Lynn-deceased) Christmas, Shane (Michelle) Wagstaff, Jackie (Ryan) McCourt, 11 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Don Wagstaff, and all her siblings: Verona Jones, Duane Jones, Glenna Jones Hooley, Norman Childs, Merlin Bone and her beloved dogs.

The funeral service for Marie will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 at the Lehi Utah Central Stake Center, 200 North Center Street, Lehi, Utah. There will be a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service will be held at the Lehi Cemetery, 1100 North 400 East for all family and friends who would like to attend immediately after the funeral. The family would like to thank all those who supported mom in these final months. We are so grateful to the staff of Abbington Manor Memory Care and Hospice Services. They went above and beyond for our dear mother.
