Evalyn Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moores Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 20, 2026.
Evalyn Jenkins Moore of Milledgeville, Georgia passed away as a resident of Green Acres Health & Rehabilitation on January 13, 2026. Evalyn was married for 62 years to Buck Moore. They were the parents of Jody Moore Waddell, husband Andy, Jay Moore, wife Lori, and the grandparents of Jayson and Cameron Moore. In addition, Evalyn is survived by her sister, Glenda Westberry and her brother, Tom Jenkins.
Evalyn was born in Mt. Vernon, Georgia to Floyd and Nell Jenkins. Evalyn's father was a Baptist pastor and for seventeen years the family lived in Jesup, Georgia where her father was pastor of the First Baptist Church. Evalyn attended public schools in Jesup. She met Buck Moore shortly after he and his family moved to Jesup from Douglas, Georgia. They soon started dating and were married in August 1957. Buck spent many years operating mobile home businesses and selling cars. Buck was kind and generous to his family and friends.
Evalyn and Buck spent their last years together in Milledgeville where they were close to their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Buck.
Evalyn supported Buck's business ventures wherever they led him as a homemaker for her family. She accepted the challenge of bringing life and beauty to the various homes she lived in as Buck pursued multiple business ventures.
For many years Evalyn was active in churches in the communities she called home. She was often found singing in the choir, leading a women's mission group, or assisting with children's programs. As her father was a minister and her mother supported him through her own ministry, she appropriated some of their practices such as studying the Bible and sharing Christian love.
Her family remembers the care and devotion she offered to her parents. She and Buck lived next door to them for many years and Evalyn was a constant source of help for her mother, who was home bound in her last years. Her father lived with her and Buck in his later years. Her devotion to her parents brought comfort to their lives.
A private memorial service will be held for Evalyn at Moores Funeral Home at a later date.
