Evalyn M. Surprenant

Evalyn M. Surprenant, 95, of Momence, IL, died on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, IL. She was born on February 12, 1929, in Kankakee, IL, the daughter of Owen Mead and Katherine Gilbert Mead. She married Anthony P. Surprenant on December 2, 1950, in Kankakee, IL. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2012.
She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law; Thelma Wells of Royston, GA, and Brenda and Martin Wellmaker of Richton Park, IL. Two sons and daughters-in-law; Bruce Surprenant of Momence, IL, Douglas and Shelly Surprenant of Chesterton, MD, and two daughters-in-law; Melinda Surprenant of Jefferson City, MO, Beth Surprenant of Wichert, IL. Son-in-law; Gene Surprenant of Momence, IL. Also surviving are twenty grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Michael, Rodney, Robert and Lee, two sisters; Evangeline and Margaret Ann, four sons; Richard Surprenant, Brian Surprenant, Gregory Surprenant and Jerome Surprenant; her daughter; Monica Kutemeier, and grandson; Gregory.
She owned Wikstrom Manor and ran the Fruit Basket, both in Momence, IL. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence, IL and the VFW Auxiliary member. She enjoyed sewing, baking and making wedding cakes, and overall was very creative.
