Evans C. Joseph was born on November 15, 1953, in Port of Spain, Trinidad, to Sonny Thomas and Joyce Joseph. He received his formal education in Trinidad. As a young man, he migrated to the United States of America, where he built a life grounded in hard work, pride, and independence. Evans dedicated his entire working career to the New York City Transit Authority, where he was known for his commitment and strong work ethic.
Evans passed away peacefully at the age of 72 on December 29, 2025, at his home in New Jersey. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose family was the center of his world. He leaves behind a lifetime of love and cherished memories with his beloved wife, Judy, his children, Kirt, Derrick, Natasha and spouse Bill, Evans Jr. and spouse Shayna, and Darryl and spouse Brittany; and his stepdaughter, Shelly. Nothing brought Evans greater joy than the laughter and presence of his grandchildren: Jeffrey, Lamique, Justin, Jesse, Tarique, Alijah, Jordan, Brianna, Dailen, Davian, Delani, Devan, Jayden, Brooklyn, Daryon, Derissa, and Nekema. He was deeply proud to be a great-grandfather to Aaliyah, Nasir, Lamiyah, Khylon, Ariel, Avianna, and Xareni, each of whom brought light and purpose to his life.
He is also survived by his siblings: Aubrey, Joanne, Madonna, Marilyn, Suzie, and Jeff and remembrance of deceased Neil and Stephanie. Evans was a loving uncle to Kelly, Nicole, Keisha, Kevon, Kimberly, Latoya, Atoya, Tinnisha, Jamie, Anika, Ayanna, and many others, and a great-uncle to Malika, Khadesha, Onika, Jahiem, Aniya, Khalifa, N' Jere, Dirkeilya, Romero, Almeera, Asim, Mathia, and many more.
Evans will be remembered for his strength, dedication to family, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him.
