Evart Otis Suddeth

Mr. Evart Otis Suddeth, age 95 of Ellijay, GA, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Mr. Suddeth was born on August 15, 1930, in Whitfield County, Georgia, to the late Erman Suddeth and Lena Epps Suddeth. Throughout his life, he found great joy in the simple pleasures, especially spending time in his garden. He loved tending to his plants and watching things grow. In addition to his parents, Mr. Suddeth is preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel Carroll, sister, Mable Bridges, and brother, Frank Suddeth.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Cantrell Suddeth: son and daughter-in-law, Kent & Jeanne Suddeth of Dalton GA: daughter, Karen Sloan of Chatsworth, GA: step-daughter and husband, Rev. Russell & Leta Hood of Ellijay: step-son and wife, Les & Lark Cantrell of Ellijay, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren , and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 11th at 11 am from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Hood and Rev. Ronald Guffey officiating. Music will be by Bill McVey. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Evan Suddeth, Logan Bliss, Hunter Morgan, Jordan Sanders, Shane Webb, Bruce Suddeth, Les Cantrell, Colton Cantrell, Jake Cantrell, and Sam Hood. Interment will follow in the Grove Level Cemetery in Dalton, GA, with Military Rites by the U.S. Air Force.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 10th from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
