Evelyn Balmert

Evelyn Balmert, age 82, a lifelong resident of Avon Lake, died Saturday, October 4, 2025. She was born Sept. 17, 1943 in Avon Lake. She graduated from Avon Lake High School Class of 1961 and began her career as a key punch operator for Greyhound Bus Lines. She later worked as a graphic services copier analyst for Cleveland Electric Illuminating. After retiring, Evie enjoyed taking bus trips with her friends-especially those that included stops at casinos. She also worked many years at Tom's Country Place in Avon where she was one of the ladies that hand made cabbage rolls and worked catering events. When at home Evie spent many hours cutting the lawn, crocheting, and enjoying her view from the back porch.
Evie is survived by her dearest friends Michelle and Ronald Wimmer, their children Stephanie (Jon) Briggs, Bryan (Kathleen) Wimmer, Andrew Wimmer. She is also lovingly remembered by the Briggs children; Jack, Patrick and Ellie along with many other cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Clarence and Mary (nee DeChant) Balmert; brother: George; and sisters: Theresa "Patsy", Rose, Mary "Katie" and Rita "Dolly".
Friends will be received Friday, October 10, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until time of parlor service at 10:00 a.m.at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd. Avon, Oh. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Poor Clares Monastery, 3501 Rocky River Dr. Cleveland, Ohio 44111.
