Evelyn Bartlett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Deer Creek Funeral Service - Dublin on Sep. 24, 2024.
Evelyn Darleen Bartlett, 88, of Dublin, CA, passed away peacefully on August 9th, 2024, surrounded by loving family.
Darleen was born March 10th, 1936, in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of Garland Christopher Woods and Evelyn Melinda Woods (Baird).
Darleen grew up in San Antonio Texas, attending Harlandale High School, until she married Richard Clark Bartlett on November 21st, 1952. They were happily married for 49 years until Richards passing in 2001. They raised two children together, Richard (Rick) Clark Jr, and Deborah Kay. They moved their family from San Antonio Texas to the California Bay Area in the early 1960's and moved to Dublin in 1976, where they made many friends, were good neighbors and maintained a beloved home for their family.
Darleen will be remembered for being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her many talents, which included sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, and especially painting. Darleen worked for a time as a Beautician in a salon and maintained her cosmetology license throughout her life. She took great pride in her appearance and had a flair for fashion, creating her own clothing and embroidery designs. She never missed an opportunity to dress for an occasion and would always sparkle head to toe. Darleen loved to cook and would make elaborate meals, featuring southern dishes side and modern recipes that she would put her own twist on. She also enjoyed spending time in her yard, gardening and cultivating award-winning roses. Darleen was truly an artist at heart; her oil paintings are gallery worthy. Darleen also loved water, she enjoyed swimming and gathering inspiration for her paintings while vacationing in Hawaii. She devoted her life to her family and home and cared deeply about her loved ones, always wanting the best for everyone around her. She looked forward to spending every holiday with her family and thought of her close friends as family as well. She also loved and doted over her pets, especially her little dog Lily.
Remaining to cherish Darleen's memory is her Son Richard Clark Bartlett Jr., Grandchildren, Alycia Rubio, Nick (Stephanie) Rubio, Nathan Bartlett, Great-Grandchildren, Lucas and Luna Rubio. Brother, Garland (Butch) Christopher Woods Jr.
Preceding Darleen in death is her Husband, Richard Clark Bartlett, Daughter Deborah Kay Rubio, Parents, Garland Christopher Woods and Evelyn Melinda Woods (Baird) and constant companion, her little dog Lily.
There will never be another like Darleen and she will be greatly missed.
Services will be held October 5th, 2024, at The Old St. Raymond Church, 6506 Donlon Way, Dublin, CA 94568 at 11 am, with reception immediately following.

My grandmother was a strong woman, she had now problems standing out. It´s possible that I gained this personal characteristic from her. She had the ability to shine through moments, her art had a similar ability. I will never forget, even as a child and inevitably an artist myself, standing in awe of her capabilities with paint and canvas. Although no human is perfect, she truly was a shining light on this earth. She stood out amongst the drab colors that she endlessly cast color upon.
All the love,
Nathaniel Bartlett.
