Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Evelyn Joan Carloss, age 96, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Monday May 5, 2025. Mrs. Carloss was born in Lapeer, Michigan the daughter of the late Coda Wilcox and the late Maude Brown Wilcox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thurman "Chuck" Carloss, two sons, William Charles "Bill" Carloss and Thomas Carloss, a baby daughter, and three brothers, Charles Hilliker, Paul Hilliker and Dale Wilcox.
Mrs. Carloss worked at Ideal Dress Shop, Jefferson, GA for many years. Evelyn was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jefferson where she taught Sunday School. She also was a member of Ruth Circle, Jefferson Women's Club, where she was president at two different times. Evelyn also was a member of the Daily Bread, a group that would deliver food to the homeless in Athens, GA.
Survivors include son, Brian Carloss (Tammy) of Braselton, GA. Three grandchildren, Jinni Gooch (Tracy) of Jefferson, GA, Coda Carloss of Charleston, S.C. and Chad Carloss of Atlanta, GA. Two great grandchildren, Alyssa Gooch (Fiance', Chandler Barton) of Jefferson, GA and Parker Gooch of Jefferson, GA.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday May 8, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home.
