Evelyn Cuda Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, Cemeteries & Crematories on Jan. 7, 2026.
Evelyn Elizabeth Karnei Cuda peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 5, 2026 after a long, faithful, and well lived life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Cuda, parents, Frederick Max Karnei and Elisa Freida Matheaus Karnei, sister, Alyce Bryant, and brother Harry Lee.

Evelyn was born on July 10,1927 in Poth, TX and was raised on a farm until age 11 when her family moved to San Antonio. It was during her first school class there that she met who eventually became her husband. It wasn't long after they graduated from Harlandale High School that Bob and Evelyn married on June 8,1947. They had a beautiful, devoted and loving 31-year marriage before it was cut short by his early passing. They worked side by side in their business ventures and raised three daughters who were the love of their lives.

Evelyn was an accomplished seamstress, competitive dancer, organist, and pianist who loved giving lessons to the children of her friends. She enjoyed playing the piano at church before teaching her Sunday School classes, reading, putting puzzles together, playing cards, dominos and other games, music, dancing, gardening, and traveling the world. She never wasted one minute of any day.

Evelyn had a heart of gold. She was a selfless, kind, and giving Godly woman. She needed little in life and was grateful for everything. She had a beautiful and infectious smile, always a laugh in her voice when she spoke to you, was non-judgmental, never spoke ill of anyone and was loved by all. Evelyn found happiness in everything and truly lived her life as if she may have been the only Bible some people would ever read. We all strived to be more like her but there was only one her.

Evelyn is survived by her loving daughters: Cherryl Elaine Allen, Deborah Gayle Moody and husband Tom Leyendecker all of San Antonio, and Rhonda Lee Arnold and husband Jim of Austin. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Brandon and Jerrod Allen, Ashlee Arnold Strain, Trey Moody, and Jayson Arnold, eight great-grandchildren: William, Katherine, Emory and Travis Allen, Elizabeth Allen Feste, Addyson and Sutton Arnold, Charlotte Moody and nephew, Roger Brickley. She loved and cherished each of them.

Pallbearers are Brandon and Jerrod Allen, Trey Moody, Jayson and Sutton Arnold and Roger Brickley.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to April Jellison, Monica Watkins, Suncrest Hospice and the Lynridge staff who provided mother with such wonderful and loving care in her last years. We are eternally grateful to you all.

Grandma Cuda was a delight to be around. Always a joy to see her and share a moment. Jim and I were always reminded of my grandmother when around her. The light of Jesus and the life of the party they were both.
