Evelyn "Evie" Mary (Servatius) Ducker of Midland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025.
Born November 4, 1931, in South Haven, Michigan, to Fred and Emily (Henze) Servatius. She moved to San Bernardino, CA, at age eight and graduated from UC Berkeley in 1954 with degrees in English and Psychology. During summers she worked in Yosemite National Park where her love of the outdoors flourished. Her name graced the summit logs of many peaks.
That same year she married the love of her life, Howard Bruce Ducker, beginning a 67-year adventure together that spanned the globe-from the U.S. to Europe, Thailand, Alaska, and even the Mt. Everest area. They spent summers sailing or spending time at their cottage at Birch Lake and winters skiing, which she continued until her late seventies.
Evie loved making music. She played flute in her youth and sang in choirs her whole life. Evie lent her voice to the Midland Choral and Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she also served as Session member and Trustee. She was a tireless volunteer helping all over Midland. She found her years working the suicide hotline particularly challenging and fulfilling.
Evie delighted in skiing, hiking, swimming, reading, cooking, raising cactus, walking her dogs and snorkeling. She and Bruce had a great circle of friends. She also treasured her family: sons Jim (Susan Mull), Paul (Mary Thomas), and Tom; grandchildren Jason (Alison), Evan (Diana), Elizabeth (Robert) and Kelsey (Jake), along with an ever-growing extended family.
Her life was a joyful blend of family, service, the outdoors, travel, and love-a legacy she leaves to all who knew her.
Cremation has taken place and private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Directors.
