Publish in a newspaper

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Robert Alan Hennig, who left peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the age of 57, surrounded by his loving family.
Rob was born on October 25, 1967, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated high school in
Gaylord, Michigan, where he consistently won regional and state championships in debate and
public speaking. After graduation from Notre Dame University (BA 1989), he headed west to
attend UC Berkeley, earning his Juris Doctorate (1994), a Master's Degree (1995), and PhD from
the Jurisprudence & Social Policy Graduate Program (1997). He was admitted to the California
Bar in 1994.
Having moved to Los Angeles while completing his doctorate, Rob there met his husband of 30
years, Steven Endo. He lectured at UCLA Political Science Department for six years, then
opened his law firm in Century City, specializing in employment litigation and won many
lucrative judgments for clients. Throughout his career he was known for integrity, grit, and
determination.
A devoted husband, son, and a loyal friend, Rob was a source of unwavering support to all who
had the privilege to know him. He was also known for his keen mind, quirky humor, and deep
commitment to the people and values he held dear. Throughout his life, Rob pursued
excellence in and outside the courtroom, serving as a mentor for new attorneys and leaving a
lasting impression on both his colleagues and community. Beyond his professional
accomplishments, Rob will be remembered for generosity, compassion, and his fun-loving
nature. A wine enthusiast, he was a business partner in Five Star Wines, a wine concierge service. He was active in a number of progressive organizations. He was a political junkie, a lifelong body builder, world traveler, and art collector.
Rob is preceded in death by his father, Guenter Hennig. He is survived by his spouse, Steven Endo, his mother, Diana Hennig, sister, Angela Poovey, her husband, Chad Poovey, other family members of aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with a wide circle of friends, who cherished his presence in their lives.
Rob's spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. His life was a vibrant testament to courage, love, and loyalty to his values. He will be deeply missed.
A celebration of his life is planned for Sunday, October 26, 2025, in the Doheny Room of the
West Hollywood Park Recreation Center, 647 N San Vicente Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069 at 2:30-4:00 pm, where friends are invited to share memories and honor his legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Bailey Center of Community Hospice in St. Augustine, FL, in his name.
