Evelyn Ruth (Holmes) Kinton, 86, wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend, went to meet her Lord on September 5, 2025.
Born to Clifford and Esther (Ekanger) Holmes in Beloit, WI, she grew up on the family farm in Rockton, IL, and was the eldest of three daughters. Evelyn graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1961. It was there that she met her late husband Jack Kinton. They were married in 1961, and during their early years of marriage they lived in Wisconsin, Ohio, Missouri, Iowa and Colorado before resettling in Illinois. Evelyn worked tirelessly caring for her family. Beginning in the mid 1970's, she held a wide variety of office positions with over 20 years of employment at Belden (Cooper) before moving on to Nalco where she retired. She was a dedicated member of Union Congregational Church for over 50 years (now Living Hope Church) in North Aurora, where she actively participated in choir, committees, ministries and other events. She truly cherished her Tuesday quilting group at the church. In 2014, after losing her father and husband, she moved to The Reserve of Geneva. At The Reserve, she participated in meals, activities and other get-togethers, where she formed lasting friendships and made beautiful memories. Evelyn always welcomed family and guests, and frequently prepared meals for family and church gatherings. She loved spending time with her family in both Colorado and Illinois. Evelyn was a very committed and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was well known for her warm smile, joyful laughter, generous heart and consistent faith.
Evelyn is survived by her son Daryl (Lori) Kinton, granddaughters Jaelyn Kinton and Kyli Kinton, son Keith (Beth-Ann) Kinton, sister Lucille (Roy) Beckwith and sister Karen (Bob) Snyder, nephews and nieces (Beckwith, Snyder and Smith families) and cousins. She is preceded in death by parents Clifford and Esther Holmes, husband Jack Kinton and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Paul and Nancy Smith.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 9 AM to 10 AM at Living Hope Church, 405 W. State St., North Aurora, IL 60542. The funeral ceremony will immediately follow the visitation, at 10 AM. Interment will take place at Garfield Cemetery in Campton Township.
