Evelyn suttles Lance

Evelyn Suttles Lance, 102, of Fletcher, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023.
A native of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late J. Nelson and Lila Davis Suttles. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lance; one son, Johnny Lance; two grandsons, Scotty Thomas and Brandon Thomas and two siblings, Wilburn Suttles and Pauline Ballinger.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Thomas (the late JC Thomas) and Cathy Lee (Eddie); daughter in law, Linda Lance; brother, James Roy Suttles; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and twenty-one great great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lance retired from Gerber Products Co. after 23 years of dedicated service. She loved cooking for her family and canning her special apple butter. She enjoyed tending to her daffodils, tulips and azalea bushes and kept Ingles, Belk's and Hamrick's in business! She once said, "the secret to a long life is to always be happy and don't be grouchy!".
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Words Of Life Tabernacle in Arden with Rev. Carl Bishop, Wilson Bishop and Richard Cole speaking. Burial will follow at Averys Creek Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Words Of Life on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.
