EVELYN ANN LOPES

Evelyn Lopes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, August 26th surrounded by her loving family. She was 92 years old.

Born and raised in New York City, Evelyn later moved to Bergenfield, New Jersey, where she and her husband Angelo "Junie" Lopes raised their family. They then retired to Vero Beach more than 40 years ago, creating a vibrant community surrounded by friends and loved ones.

Evelyn was the proud matriarch of her family. In true Italian grandmother fashion, she centered everything around food, togetherness, and love. She passed down her passion for cooking Sunday family dinners, a tradition that continues to live on through her children and grandchildren. She delighted in their accomplishments and took immense pride in each of them.

She is survived by her sons: Gary (Michele) Lopes, Wayne Lopes, and Craig Lopes; daughters: Keri (Bob) Chettum and Amy (John) Serovich; and grandchildren: Kara, Jared, Cayla, Haley, and Corey Lopes, Jillian and Trevor Lopes and Alissa, Brielle and John Christian Serovich. Evelyn will also be missed by her four great-grandchildren: Jace, Alexander, and Ryland Moore; and Gabriella Lopes, and extended family.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Angelo Lopes, granddaughter Megan Alissa Lopes, and daughters-in-law Cynthia Lopes and Sylvie Degiez.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach, Florida.
