Colonie-Evelyn M (Mabee) Sherman, 85, passed away on August 27, 2025 at Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Middletown, NY on February 19, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mabel Longworth Mabee.
Evelyn was raised in Goshen, NY and attended Goshen schools. In addition to being a homemaker and raising her five sons, she worked for ARC Rensselaer County in Troy, NY for over 20 years as a workshop supervisor, retiring in 2002. Evelyn enjoyed attending church services and volunteering for her church. She especially loved spending time at her sister Doreen’s home visiting with family and friends.
Evelyn was predeceased by her son Robert Sherman; grandson Andrew Sherman; siblings Nicholas, Donald and Eugene Mabee and her former spouse Edwin Sherman.
Evelyn is survived by her children Manuel and Barbara Mabee, Mark and Caroline Sherman, Richard and Maria Guadalupe Sherman and Steven Sherman; grandchildren Richard Caleb Sherman, Kayleigh (Kyle) Rigney, Chelsea (David Wood) Sherman, Nicole Mabee; great grandchildren Olivia and Henry Rigney; her siblings Doreen (Steve) Vogt and Richard (Lisa) Mabee. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation 10-11am followed by 11am Service, will be held Thursday September 4, 2025 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 343 New Karner Road Colonie , NY 12205. Interment to follow service, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery 2501 Troy-Schenectady Rd, Niskayuna, NY 12309
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
