Evelyn Murray Allen Jacobs Obituary
Evelyn Murray Allen Jacobs, age 81, of Charlotte, formerly of Rutherford County, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
Evelyn was born Sunday, February 20, 1944, in Bostic, to the late Clifford Murray and Olar Mae Smith Murray. She was a retired Postal Clerk and had worked as a registered nurse in Tampa, Florida. Evelyn enjoyed shopping, playing pool, and bowling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Allen and Abe Jacobs; son, Robert Hammond; and brother, Buren Murray.
Those left to cherish her memories include her sons, Reggie Hammond, and Richard Hammond, both of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Robert Hammond Jr., and Kelsey Hammond Hooper; and one great-grandson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins which includes, Archie West and Pansy Rummage.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Monday, August 18th at Harrelson Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Lane and Mrs. Pansy Rummage officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Evelyn will lie-in-state on Sunday, August 17th at Harrelson Funeral Home from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
