Evelyn Pagles Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 7, 2025.
Evelyn Rosalie Pagles, age 87 of New London, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Crossroads Care Facility in Weyauwega. Evelyn was born in the Town of Jump River on August 27, 1938 to the late Raymond and Phyllis (Groves) Smith. She married the love of her life, Fred Pagles, on May 26, 1956 in Abbotsford, WI and worked alongside him as they celebrated 69 years of marriage. Her family was the center of her life and her pride and joy. Evelyn was known for her hard work ethic and determination. She enjoyed cooking, making peanut brittle, and the most delicious pies and breads for church fundraisers. Evelyn loved quilting and embroidery, along with being a talented seamstress. She was very active and involved at her church. She lived her faith, by praying every night while kneeling at her bedside. Other things that Evelyn enjoyed were reading, playing the piano and singing.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Fred; children, Denise (Michael) Golembiewski, Sarah (Charles) Thompson, Fred Albert (Regina) Pagles II and Dianne (John) Karpinski; grandchildren, Rachel (Adam) Golembiewski, Jonathan Golembiewski, Jenna (Owen) Jones, Beth (Ryne) Thompson, Brianna (Casey) Wells, Evelyn (Seth) Boyte, Christopher (Mariah) Thompson, Jeramy (Gisela) Karpinski, Justin (Farryne) Karpinski, Jane (Alex) Luchsinger, Anna Karpinski and Natalie (Tate) Percival; great-grandchildren, Mikaela, Louella, Mitchell, Presley, Jack, Owen, Keeton, Peyton, Eden, Kennedy, Remington, McClain, Elsie, Hattie, Margaret, Norah, Walter, Jeramy, Jasper, Jayden, Finley, Walker, Riley and baby Jones due in December; her siblings, Dennis (Debra) Smith and Lila (George) Derks; brother-in-law, Harold (Gale) Pagles and sister-in-law, Sharon Pagles. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, special friends Dan and Joan Mabry and special kitty, Mitts.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her sister, Alene Bidwell; nephew, Dan Bidwell; in-laws, Wayne and Dorothy Pagles and stepmother-in-law, Lela Pagles.

A special thanks to St. Croix Hospice and Crossroads in Weyauwega for their loving care.
