Evelyn Joyce Smith, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away August 7,2024. She was born on February 22, 1936, in Dickson,Tennessee to her parents Will and Lillie Jones. Evelyn was one of ten siblings.
Evelyn devoted 35 years of her life to a career in the accounting department for the State of Transportation Department before retiring. Her dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on all those she worked with.
Described as generous and loving, Evelyn enjoyed maintaining an active lifestyle through exercising and tending to her yard. Known for her kind heart and strong will, she found joy in nurturing her loved ones and ensuring their well-being.
Among Evelyn's proudest accomplishments was her grandson, whom affectionately called her "Mop." She cherished the time spent caring for him before he started school, creating precious memories that will be treasured forever.
Evelyn was a member of Jackson Park Church of Christ in Nashville for over 25 years.
Evelyn is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Kyle Smith, her son Mike (Christy), and her beloved grandson Griffin Smith. Their lives have been enriched by Evelyn's love and unwavering support.
Services to honor and celebrate Evelyn's life will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Goodlettsville. Visitation will take place on August 12 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on August 13 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A Celebration of Life ceremony will follow on August 13 at 12:00 PM.
Evelyn Joyce Smith will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her spirit live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
