Everett Daley Obituary

Everett Leonne Daley was born on May 25, 1937, in Cornfield, a rural district in the parish of St. Andrew, Jamaica to Elma Euphemia Little (nee) Gayle and Oscar Sigismond Daley. He was raised by his mother and maternal grandparents, and cousins in the same home. Everett attended Grove primary school and was an active member of the Grove Anglican Church where he was christened and later participated in church activities with family.

From a young age, Everett developed a love for music and assisted with the playing of the church organ. He entered the government's apprenticeship program where he acquired the knowledge and proficiency to succeed in the areas of land surveying. Everett would fondly spoke of the contributions he made to the development of some of the major road projects on the island (from Negril in the west to Morant Bay in the east).

In the early 1960's, Everett met, and married Ethyl Palmer, the apple of his eye, and this union produced six children: Raul; Sharon; Donovan; Marcia (deceased); Rohan and Stephina. Later, Everett and Ethyl made the decision to migrate to the United States of America to afford the family more opportunities for economic and social mobility.

Life in this new country was not always easy. It was necessary to acquire additional jobs in order to meet the financial needs of the household. Despite these challenges, Everett remained focused on his goals and eventually secured more stable employment as a licensed surveyor with the Broward County Board of Commissioners – Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he worked until his retirement in 2002.

In 1996, Everett married Joslyn Michelle Bell after a prior divorce from Ethyl. Joslyn remained his partner until her deceased in 2011.

Everett became a proud member of the Rosicrucian Order in Jamaica and, upon his migration to the United States, continued with steadfast devotion. Through his tireless service, he rose to the esteemed ranks of Grand Master and Regional Monitor. Affectionately known as the "Travelling Master," he dedicated himself to visiting chapters and lodges near and far. In 1992, his years of faithful service were honored with an Appreciation Award. His legacy of commitment, leadership, and fellowship will forever be remembered.

Everett loved life and had a true gift for entertaining. One of his great loves was in the field of culinary arts. He loved to grill when preparing his well-loved pork chops. The preparation of this family treat will surely be missed.

Everett always looked out for his family and friends, and he handled his health the same way. After being diagnosed with diabetes, he spent the last 30 years making sure to check his blood sugar every day and keep it under control.

Everett will be missed by family and all whom he interacted with. He died on September 19, 2025, and is survived by his children: Raul, Sharon Donovan, Rohan and Stephina; grandchildren: Raimon, Lakisha, Alisha, Etienne, Kendrick, Eric, Rahmyn, Malcom and Justin, and 13 great grandchildren; siblings: Wooleston (deceased) Gilbert (deceased) Milton, Noble, Gwyneth, Earl (deceased) Elaine, Evaline (Adassa), Patrick, Edna, Derrick, Christopher and Carol; 18 nieces and nephews, cousins and other family members.

May his soul rest in peace.
