Everett "Ed" Quirple Obituary

Everett F. Quirple, 82, passed away at his home in Forked River surrounded by his family on August 9, 2025, after a decade-long battle of lung cancer. To say his fight was courageous would be an understatement. Time after time, when the prognosis was grim, he would show just how much of a warrior he was and continued to beat the odds and fight for his beloved family.

Everett, also lovingly known as Ed, Eddie, or Sweet Ed, was born and raised in Philadelphia, where he grew up to be a lifelong Eagles fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pinochle, watching NASCAR, and vacationing in Cabo San Lucas. Ed's most cherished moments were anything that involved making memories with his family and friends who he called family.

On September 30, 1961, Ed married the love of his life, Nancy Biehl, also of Philadelphia. From 1961-1964, Ed and Nancy moved to Germany while he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon return to Philadelphia, Ed and Nancy started their family, and eventually moved to Toms River, NJ and later Howell, where they resided for 23 years. During this time, Ed began his career as a crane operator at Co-Steel Raritan in Perth Amboy and excelled there until his retirement. In August of 2010, he and Nancy moved to their home in Forked River to spend the rest of their days closer to their daughters and family.

Everett was welcomed at heaven's gates by his parents, Edward and Florence Quirple, brothers, Thomas and Daniel Quirple, and his grandson, "Little" Eddie. Carrying on his memory are his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Nancy (Biehl) Quirple, daughters, Nancy (Bruce) Bowens, Kimberly (Henry Sr.) Korotky, and Suzette (Brian) Wagner, sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Byrne, brother, Joseph Quirple, and sister-in-law, Sarah Quirple. He was always so proud to be called "Poppop" by his grandchildren, Douglas (Megan) Bowens, Shawn (Marisa) Bowens, Kimberly (Daniel Jr.) Spry, Keith (Danielle) Bowens, Henry Jr. (Amanda) Korotky, and Marissa and Jamie Wagner, as well as his great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Jacob, Lauren, Adam, Madison, Cassidy, Mackenzie, and Troy, all who will carry on his legacy.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm, with special intentions being shared at 3:30pm, at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 Route 9, Forked River, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Everett's name to the American Cancer Society or Tunnels to Towers.
