Everett Glascock Obituary
Everett Franklin Glascock ("Papa"), 89, of Niceville, Florida passed away peacefully to Heaven on August 4, 2024 with two of his children by his side. Everett leaves behind a very memorable legacy in the community; being best known as "the man with thousands of lemons."
Born to Samuel and Maud Glascock on April 21, 1935 in Marshall, Virginia, Everett was the middle sibling of nine children.
Everett is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Lou; his sister, Doris; his brother, William; his children and their spouses, Sharon (Danny), Randy (Joyce), Jodi, and Kelly (Clark); his grandchildren, Hailey, Nicole, Hannah, Austin, Madison, Makenna, Melissa, Jason, Kristy, and Jordyn; his great grandchildren, Jackson, Landon, Elease, Emma, Landen, Lexi, Charley, and Everly; and his best friend, Rick; along with a host of other cherished relatives and friends. Everett was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Maud; his sisters, Helen, Bessie Lee, Lula Mae, Madeline, and Mattie; and his brother, Thomas. Everett was also preceded in death by his dear son, Ricky, whom he is now eternally reunited with, as well as his other relatives.
Everett was a proud American veteran of The United States Army, serving from 1957 to 1964. He began his military duties stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, then was transferred to Germany where he served alongside Elvis Presley. One of his favorite pastimes was sharing stories and reminiscing the memories he made as a soldier with his loved ones. Even during his final weeks, he was still the passionately patriotic man he has always been.
Following his military career, Everett was a contractor at Virginia Roofing for several years and even climbed his way up to becoming the supervisor of the company. He then went on to open his own business called E & M Sheet Metal and Roofing which he would run until his retirement.
Married in 1980, Everett and Mary Lou began their life together in Manassas, Virginia, where they would live until they relocated to Niceville, Florida. They made the move to the beautiful "Emerald Coast" in 1999, where he spent the rest of his years alongside his wife and other family members. His all time favorite hobby was growing ponderosa lemons with his beloved wife, Mary Lou. Everett's world revolved around his family. From the union, they had five children. He also spent time being a parent to two foster children, Eva and Carrol.
A natural born craftsman and hard worker, Everett will always be remembered for being innovative and creative. You could always find him woodworking in his backyard shop, tending to his yard and garden, or fixing things with his wide collection of tools. But most of all, he enjoyed helping his grandchildren with school projects.
Everett was an avid football fanatic and held season tickets to the Washington Commanders (formerly Redskins) every year during his time living in Virginia. He shared his enthusiasm and love for this team by bringing family members with him to all of the games. After moving to Niceville, he became a dedicated season ticket holder of Niceville High School football, three of his granddaughters' alma maters, and never missed a Friday night game. It brought him immense joy to watch his granddaughter Hannah, one of the captains of the majorette team, perform on Friday nights at the games. His presence in the stands and the community will surely be missed.
In lieu of flowers, Everett's family requests that memorials or donations be made in his name to The Niceville High School Eagle Pride Marching Band. Checks can be made payable to "NHS Band" and mailed in or dropped off to the school. NHS Band - 800 E. John Sims Pkwy, Niceville, FL. 32578. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
