Evia "Maxine" Wester, 89, of Marianna, Florida, died Sunday, July 27, 2025, at her home.

Maxine was born January 21, 1936, in Jackson County, Florida, to Ernest and Evia McCroan. She worked as a CNA at Jackson Hospital for many years before retiring. She always loved caring for people; it did not matter if she knew you or not, she would help any way she could. Maxine was a dedicated member of First Assembly Marianna for many years. She was one of the members who helped start the Children's Ministry many years ago. More than anything, she was a loving memaw and meme to her grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John Wester; daughters, Diane Lewis and Dorothy Singletary; parents, Ernest and Evia Davis McCroan; siblings, Jake McCroan, E.J. McCroan (Myra), Ernestine Arendoll, and Ethel White.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Christy, and husband, Scott; son, Seth Wester; grandchildren, Robbie Lewis (Michele), Michael Lewis (Rachel), Krystal Bryant (Keith), Denny Ray Singletary; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Violet Herring; sisters-in-law, Johnnie Faye Wester and Nora McCroan.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at First Assembly Marianna, with Rev. Vince Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Pope Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Marianna First Assembly of God.
