Funeral service for Evie Marie Shaw, age 76 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Sharp and Pastor John Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at Mel Haven Cemetery with Darwin Shaw, Kenneth Shaw Sr., Jeriah Johnson, De Montra Morris, Jonathan Shaw and Rashad Hall serving as pallbearers and Danny McConnell, Christopher Brown and Frederick Shaw as honorary pallbearers. There will be no formal visitation. Mrs. Shaw passed away on January 18, 2026, at Christus Mother Frances – Sulphur Springs.
Evie Marie Shaw was born on January 15, 1950 in Greenville, Texas, to Mr. Armours Catilla Newsome and Ella Marie Russeau. She attended high school in Commerce, Texas. Evie moved to Sulphur Springs at an early age, where she met and married Mr. Meddie A. Shaw Jr. on June 27, 1966. To this union, three children were born. She later joined and was baptized at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She later joined Faith Tabernacle Full Gospel Pentecost Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas, where she became a Sunday School Secretary and the church secretary.
Mrs. Evie Marie Shaw is survived by one daughter, Linda Renay Shaw Johnson (Brian Keith Johnson); two sons, Eddie Tyron Shaw and Elton Wayne Shaw both of Sulphur Springs, Texas; two grandsons raised as sons, DiQuince Morris and DeMontra Morris; one brother, Richard Earl Newsome of Campbell, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one stepsister and two stepbrothers and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. Meddie A. Shaw Jr.; parents, Armours Catilla Newsome and Ella Marie Russeau and two sisters, Linda Sue Wade and Vera Newsome.
