Evon Gibbs, age 83 of Dayton, Ohio passed away on November 29, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Evon was born on April 13, 1941, in Fork Mountain, Tennessee the daughter of Bill and Mae Stone.
Evon taught herself how to play the piano by ear at a young age. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and making her house look pretty. Evon loved taking care of her cats Joe and Oreo.
Evon retired from the bakery department at Kroger.
Evon was an active church member at Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, 2405 Harshman Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45424, and attended regularly. She would often play the piano during church services.
Evon’s memory will be cherished by her daughter Patricia Meuret (Brian McNeil), her grandchildren Heather Ratliff, Paul Phillips, and Daniel Johnson, her great-grandchildren Niklaus and Hope Phillips, her sister Mary Woods, and many nephews and nieces.
Evon was preceded in death by her husband L.B. Gibbs her parents Bill and Mae Stone, her brothers Donald, Bob, Billy, and Jack Stone, her sisters Lillie Mae Crews and Nellie Peyton and her stepson Jack Meuret Jr.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 9:30-10:30am at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, Ohio 45424. The service will follow at 10:30am with Hollie Vanhoose officiating. Evon will be laid to rest at Dayton Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be given to Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church in memory of Evon Gibbs.
