Ewald Poehler Jr.

Whiting, NJ – Ewald "Duke" Poehler Jr., passed away peacefully at his home in Whiting on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by his beautiful garden and his loving family.
Born in Paterson, Duke spent many cherished years in Pompton Lakes before moving to Cape Cod, then Kutztown, PA, and finally settling in Whiting in 2022.
Duke was a dedicated entrepreneur and a beloved figure in his communities. For over 30 years, he was the proud owner of Duke's Corner Shoppe, an establishment known for its antiques and furniture repair services. Later in life, he also owned and operated a Bed and Breakfast in Cape Cod, welcoming many visitors with his warmth and hospitality. Duke fully retired in 2000, embracing a new chapter of life in Kutztown, PA. While living in Kutztown, Duke immersed himself into his sons' produce market business, "Spring House Farms."
Duke will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, his craftsmanship, and the joy he brought to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.
Family: Duke is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Edwina Poehler; his sons, Mark Poehler, Brian Poehler, and Kurt Poehler; and his grandchildren.
Funeral and Memorial Service Details: Cremation was private. Information regarding services to celebrate Duke's life will be shared by the family at a later time.
