Ewing Daniel "Danny" Bowling, a cherished member of the Hyden community, passed away peacefully at his residence in Hyden, Kentucky, on October 12, 2024, at the age of 60. Born on February 15, 1964, he was the son of Ewen and Kathleen Feltner Bowling Pennington, who, along with his stepfather Willie Ray Pennington and sister Linda Bowling, preceded him in death.
Danny was a dedicated coal miner who proudly worked for 18 years, exemplifying hard work and resilience throughout his career. He was a graduate of Leslie County High School, where he laid the foundation for his pursuit of knowledge, later completing two years of college. His commitment to learning and his profession was reflective of his strong character.
A member of the Hurts Creek Church of Christ at Hyden, KY, Danny was known for his unwavering faith. His spiritual devotion resonated with all who knew him, and he took pride in being a part of something greater than himself.
Danny found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep love for the outdoors, often spending his free time ginsenging, fishing and hunting. These hobbies allowed him to connect with nature and foster relationships with his loved ones. He especially treasured the moments spent with his family, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
He leaves behind a loving family that includes beloved mother of his children, Charlotte Gilman; cherished son, Scott Daniel "Scottie" Bowling; cherished daughter, Brittney Virginia Joan Farmer (Jason); brothers, Roger Bowling (Lisa) and half-brother, Wendall Asher; sister, Thelma Wright (Jeff); and his treasured grandson, Jaxon Lee Farmer. His memory will also be honored by his nieces and nephews: Ashley Day, Crystal Wright-Lee, Brandy Kidd, Chase Hollen, Justin Wright and Roger Brian Bowling; his great nieces and nephews: Maylee Bowling, Braxton Bowling, Briella Bray (Tate), Kiera Jones, Ainsley Jones, Mason Wright Smith, Trenton Day, Jadyn Rohr, Chloe Hollen, Serenity Hollen, and Harper Bray along with a host of other relatives and friends. Each of these relationships reflects the profound impact Danny had on those around him; he will be deeply missed by his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Ewing Daniel "Danny" Bowling's legacy of love, laughter, and community will continue to live in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He was truly one of a kind, and his spirit will forever remain a guiding light for his family and friends.
