John Bowling Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Frurip-May Funeral Home on Feb. 1, 2026.
John Dale Bowling, age 68, of LaGrange, Indiana, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 30, 2026, at his residence.

He was born October 16, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Ralph and Rebecca (Howard) Bowling.

Dale moved to LaGrange from Lake Odessa, Michigan. He was retired, having worked for many years at Lake Park Industries in Shipshewana. After retirement, he continued working as a delivery driver, a role he enjoyed for staying active and connected with people.

Dale was a true music lover and rarely went without it playing. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and especially cherished moments with his grandchildren. A devoted Michigan State University fan, Dale also had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a good joke.

On July 5, 2002, he married Amy Sue Dykhouse at the LaGrange County Courthouse-a simple but beautiful beginning to a happy marriage. Amy survives him.

Also surviving are his children: John D. (Kathy) Bowling, Jr. of Rome City, Indiana; Shelbie (Cameron) Warren of Howe, Indiana; Courtnie (Taylor) Stidham of Mongo, Indiana; and Cole Vandecar of Ionia, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Kelsie, Kylie, Atticus, Bristol, Hank, and Rhett; three great-grandchildren, Eastyn, Warren, and Mason; three sisters, Ann (Bill) Roth of Lake Odessa, Michigan, Tammy Hicks of Kendallville, Indiana, and Sally (Marius) Aliaj of Kendallville, Indiana; his parents-in-law, Ray and Mary Dykhouse of Lake Odessa, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Pam (Denney) Barlage of Kentwood, Michigan and Tammy (Tim) Brodbeck of Lake Odessa, Michigan, Gerry Bowling of Delton, Michigan; and brothers-in-law, Darrell (Linsey) Dykhouse of Lake Odessa, Michigan and Tim Seese of Clarksville, Michigan.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Amanda Bowling; and two brothers, James Napier and Ralph Bowling, Jr. and sister-in-law, Kim Seese.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan Street, LaGrange, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Jamie Krenz officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange, Indiana.
