F. L. “Sid” Sidenblad (100) was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 26, 2026. His loving family celebrates his long, well-lived life and the joy in the witness of his Homecoming.

Born in Morris, Minnesota, his family moved to Houston, Texas where he graduated high school, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and met the love of his life, his “sweet lady,” Dot. After retiring from Houston Lighting and Power Company forty years ago, Sid and Dot moved to Burton - the place they called home - enjoying time with family and friends, beautiful sunsets, fields of wildflowers, being outdoors - always working on a project or two, and serving the Lord and others whenever possible as a member and deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham.

Our “Dad,” “Daddy,” and “Grandaddy” was extremely loved, will be deeply missed and will always be cherished. Sid loved Jesus, his family, serving others, and being active, even in his last days. You could regularly find him puttering around on his golf cart, he called his “Sid-allac”, helping out whenever needed in his job as “sidekick to the beekeeper, his ‘son-in-love’ ”. Sid was a man of strong character, integrity, and an irresistible smile and laugh. He reached out to everyone and no one was a stranger to him. He loved his daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren without reserve and consistently showed what it means to lead a family.

His most treasured role was being a husband to the love of his life, Dot, “the most beautiful girl” who lived across the street. They were married for 66 years before she went Home ten years ago. Dad loved Mom so well and he dearly missed her every single day for the last 10-plus years and would wake up every day, saying “Sweet Lady, today might be the day we’re reunited in Heaven!” They were partners in every way and their marriage was an example to so many. So today, we rejoice that Dad is sharing the Joy of Heaven with his sweet lady.

Loved ones who will dearly miss him until they are reunited again are his daughter and son-in-law, Bev and Stan Gore; three grandchildren, Craig and wife Brandy Martin, Cody Martin, and Kelly and her husband Adam Law; five great-grandchildren Annabelle, Andi and Connor Law, Riley and Dylan Martin. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Linda Russell, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and other family members.

The funeral service for Sid will be held at 11:30 am Friday, February 6, 2026 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Billy Sutherland officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:30 am until service time.

Memorial remembrances can be made to Calvary Baptist Church - Brenham or Burton Cotton Gin Museum.
