Fannie Carter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bennie Smith Funeral Homes - Salisbury on Oct. 4, 2022.
THE LIFE OF FANNIE
Fannie Hull Carter was born on April 26, 1942, the daughter of the late James Albert and Bertha Hull. At the age of eighty (80), she peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 29, 2022 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Fannie received her early education in the Wicomico County public school system. As a result of having rheumatic fever and also a bout with appendicitis, she missed a few years of school. However in typical Fannie style, she rose to meet those challenges and worked hard upon returning to school and was put up a year. She graduated from Salisbury High School in 1961, which was only one year later than when she was slated to graduate in 1960.
She attended Morgan and Bowie State University and while she did not graduate from either, she transferred the credits and returned to Salisbury University and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science and a major in Liberal Studies.
Although she held various jobs in different positions throughout the years, she began her career in earnest in 1982 when she started working at SHORE UP! Inc. She began as a teacher and was promoted several times, including being Site Coordinator for many locations on the lower shore, eventually becoming the Disability Coordinator for the Lower Shore, Rock Hall and Kennedyville, retiring as the Site Coordinator for Eden Head Start in July of 2012.
Fannie was a faithful member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Mardela Springs, Maryland. She was an avid reader, loved plants and flowers and she had a very green thumb. She also had a love for crafting and sewing.
Fannie leave to cherish precious memories: two children, Daniel Carter, Jr. (Arlene), LaJuan C. Hayward and daughter-in-law Sharon Carter; grandchildren, Nishae Guice, Denail Carter, Paris Parker, Chanelle Maddox, Tasha Carter, Devyn Tomplait, Daniel Cornish, Shanyella Cornish, Chimere Maddox, Darroll Carter, Jr., Tony Hayward, Jr. and Donovan Carter; 15 great-grandchildren and brother- in- laws Gene Cray and sister-in law Florence Hull; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Albert Hull and Bertha Hull, beloved son, Darroll Carter, Sr. and siblings, Stanley, Purnell, Phillip, James, Jr. and Arlela Cray.
Fannie will always be remembered for her love and devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her Family. Her gentle compassionate nature and always encouraging others will also be fondly remembered.
