Fannie Mae Powell, 89, of Lexington, Ky, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 9, 1936, in Jackson County, Ky to the late Isaac and Martha (Wilson) Welch. She was preceded in death by her husband Levi Wayne Powell, sisters Phyllis Morris and Vickie Welch, and brothers Isaac "Sonny" Welch and Ray "Snookie" Welch, and beloved niece Donna Webb.
She is survived by one brother, Eldon Welch of Cynthiana and one stepsister, Jean Wood of Cape Coral, Fl. She was blessed with many special nieces and nephews including cherished ones Teresa and Scott Hoffman, Steve Webb, Joshua (AnneMarie) Webb, Lilly Webb, and Krystal Webb.
Fannie retired from IBM in 1990 and worked for Lexmark Intl. for many years after. She was known for her devotion to family, work ethic, cooking skills, and great love of shopping.
A special thanks to care giver Gina Hastings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fannie's memory to Bluegrass Care Navigators.
Funeral Services for Fannie will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, December 12, 2025, with Bro. Eddie Ray Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilson Cemetery. A visitation will begin at 12 Noon at the Lakes Funeral Home Chapel in McKee.
Pallbearers Billy Morris, Zack Morris, Scott Hoffman, Steve Webb, and Josh Webb.
Honorary pallbearers Eldon Welch and James "Doodle" Cook.
