Fannie Willis Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 7, 2025.
Fannie Virginia Willis, a devoted servant of faith, family, and community, transitioned peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the age of 71.

Born on December 9, 1953, in Richmond, Virginia, Fannie was the cherished daughter of the late Emmett Willis and Lena Funn Willis. She was a proud graduate of Powhatan High School, Class of 1972, and dedicated many years of her career as a clerk with the Social Security Administration under the Federal Government.

Fannie lived a life of grace, service, and quiet strength. She was known for her sweet and considerate spirit, always putting others before herself. Her love for crossword puzzles, board games and traveling was only matched by her devotion to her faith and church community.

A longtime member of First Antioch Baptist Church, Fannie wore many hats with humility and joy. She served as Chairperson of the Shepherd's Care Ministry, Secretary of the Women's Ministry, a member of the Hospitality Committee, the FABC Combined Choir, the Missionary Ministry, and served faithfully as Financial Secretary. Her willingness to step in wherever needed was a testament to her selfless character.

She is survived by her beloved son, Otis Williams, Jr. Fannie leaves behind her aunt Evelyn Wilson, her older sister, Vivian Littlefield (Jodie), and was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Clementine Cecelia Willis. She was a loving aunt to Chanda Littlefield, Frederick Littlefield (Dionndra), and Siobhan Littlefield Caracciolo (Dion), and a cherished great-aunt to Jasmyn, Kyla, Jeffrey, Collins and Aeres. She was also a beloved great-great-aunt to Saint. Her legacy lives on through her devoted cousins: Janice, Jerretta, Fannie, Geraldine, Shirley. She held a special place in her heart for her late cousin Rev. Willis Funn and his wife Beverly Funn. Also a host of cherished family, friends, and classmates

A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held Friday July 18, 2025, at 1:00p.m. at First Antioch Baptist Church, 3920 Maidens Rd., Powhatan, VA 23139.

Fannie's life was a reflection of kindness, service, and unwavering faith. Her gentle presence and loving heart will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
