Farhat David Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Messinger Mortuaries- Indian School Mortuary on Feb. 11, 2026.
Farhat Jacob David, 94, fell asleep peacefully in the Lord on February 9, 2026 in Mesa, Arizona with his oldest and youngest sons at his side. Prayer services will be held at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Scottsdale, Arizona on Thursday, February 12 at 6 pm. The funeral will also be held at Assumption on Friday, February 13 at 12 noon. Burial will follow at 1 pm at Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Farhat was a lifelong Orthodox Christian and carried an unwavering faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born in 1931 and raised in Ein Arik, a small village outside of Ramallah, Palestine to Jacob and Miriam David, Farhat grew up primarily with his mother and his 3 younger siblings, his father having returned to the USA where he had immigrated to in 1910. That left Farhat to be the "man of the house" from a young age, and he carried that weight throughout his whole life. Farhat came to the United States in 1951, settling initially in Pittsburgh, but returned to Palestine in 1955 to marry his beloved bride, Johara, who preceded him in death in 2017 after 62 years of marriage. Farhat and Johara settled in Jersey City before moving the family to Tempe, Arizona in 1980, where he lived the rest of his life.

Farhat was first and foremost a family man. Having not been afforded the luxury of a proper education as a child due to his home duties, he worked extra hard all his life to provide a safe and stable home for his six children. Never thinking of himself, he saved every penny for his kids' education so they could have an easier life than he did. Farhat was a gentle soul who enjoyed a simple meal, telling stories of the old days and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He is survived by his children Jack (Shannon), Joanne (Frank), Christine (Charles), Michael (Sherine), Charles (Rana), and Joseph (Paru), as well as 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. His family will forever hold his memory dearly, inspired by his faith, strength and sacrifices he made to better the lives of the ones he loved.
