Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Fay Barefoot Weaver, age 82, of Old School Road passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held-2:00 PM Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Burnell Baptist Church in Four Oaks. Officiating will be Rev. Jessie Brock. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery in Clayton.
Fay was born on January 28, 1942 at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC to the late Theotis B. and Thelma Godwin Barefoot. She was preceded in death by her parents. She grew up in both Sampson and Johnston counties and was voted Best All-Around and Senior Favorite in her graduating class of 1959 from Wilsons Mills High School in Wilsons Mills. During her school days she was also a cheerleader which is where she first caught Jimmy’s eye. She went on to graduate from Kings Business College in Raleigh in 1960. That same year she married the love of her life, Jimmy Ralph Weaver on December 4, 1960. She had a very successful 40-year career as an administrative assistant in various offices including two law offices, the department of hematology at UNC Chapel Hill Medical Center, the human resources department of Mead-CompuChem, and as a contract administrator at both IBM and NC State University. She was an active church member who had over 65 years of Sunday School perfect attendance, was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union, and supervised many church programs such as the Chrismon program and flower program at Parkwood Baptist in Durham. Fay has been a member of Burnell Baptist Church in Four Oaks for over 15 years. She was a gifted seamstress, sewing many sets of clothes for herself and her family. Fay enjoyed taking care of and helping other people and she accomplished this in many different ways throughout her life. She was a kind, gentle person who deeply loved all of her family, especially her husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved ice cream, butterflies, and the color purple.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Jimmy R. Weaver; son, Dale Weaver and wife, Tammy of Irmo, SC; daughter, Wendy Miller and husband, Eric of Paris, VA; grandchildren, Matthew Miller and wife, Lydia, Joshua Miller, and Luke Miller; brother, Bruce Barefoot and wife, Jean of Sparta, NC; sister, Pamela Doyle of Four Oaks; and nieces and nephews.
The Family will receive friends 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Burnell Baptist Church at 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks, NC, 27524 or to Johnston Homecare and Hospice at 514 N Brightleaf Blvd # 1502, Smithfield, NC 27577.
